Oddball Lapghan #1!

I received oddball lapghan a week ago thursday and I was able to finally get it knitted on. I used Caron Simply Soft in the cranberry color (The same one I used for my Va Tech squares). I did a simply stockinette stitch. It's boxed up and currently waiting for the next person on the list to respond so I can send it out! It's getting very long and very beautiful.
I'm so glad I had the privaledge to work on this project.
Oddball blanket #2 is on its way to my house as we speak! I should have it before I leave for SA on Friday!

My secret pal swap!

These are the wonderful gift my swap partner got me! The sock yarn is from knitpicks. It's felci. It's absolutely beautiful. The first picture is beads in a bag so that I can make some stitch markers. She was unable to find the hardware to make them. My swap partner was awesome and I'm so greatful to of received such a great package!

Palindrome Scarf!

It's finally finished! I'm so happy about the way it turned out. This was my first attempt at cables. I think my sister will love it! I think next summer I want to try and do a sweater in cables for lane. I received some great patterns from the secret swap last time!
So here it is!

Secret Santa Swap!

I'm participating in yet another swap from KH website. I love the people there and it's always so much fun!

My partner is new to KH and new to the swap of course. I've gotten her package all together and it will be going into the mail tomorrow! I'm sending it priority mail and it should be there by the end of the week. I hope she enjoys all the things I put in there for her!

I have also now compelted my sister's palindrome scarf. It's beautiful if I do say so myself and the the cables were surprisingly easy to do! I'll post pictures soon!

I also received my "oh baby" baby booties pattern that I bought off ebay. The booties are so cute. After I get nana's christmas present knitted up, I'll get a few pairs knittied up!

I have also been posting on ravelry. Maybe I'll get all my stash listed...one day :)

pictures will be posted soon!

Palindrome scarf!

Ok, I caved I started the palindrome scarf. Except it's not for me. When I was printing out the pattern my sister (16 years old) said I LOVE that scarf, do you have the exact yarn and can you make it for me? The funny thing was my mom had 2 skeins lying around so I started. I'll probably have to get another skein or two to finish it off for her but here it is! This is my first attempt at cables. They are much easier than I thought and it's working up quickly and nicely! I'm using Patons Sws in the natural pink colorway (I think that's what it's called). I got the pattern from http://www.cometosilver.com/ . Thanks
silver!

UFO's!

Ok so I thought about the UFO's floating around my house and thought I might make a list. I'd like to try and work on finishing some of these before the end of the year!

1. Combo Corsett-T from diynetwork.com - Actually i'm hoping to finish knitting on it by the weekend and then learn to do the crochett border and buy some buttons. So maybe in a week this will be a FO!
2. Alene Camisole also from diynetwork.com - I've done the front and back to this. I need to block it, seam it and cast on for the "skirting" portion.
3. Afghan Kit from knitpicks.com. I started this and realized I made a mistake. I need to do a bit of froggin and redo a row or two. I love the yarns that came with this kit though. It gave me a great chance to try out different knitpicks.com yarns!
4. Comfort shawl - knittingdaily.com. I want to do this for my husband's nana for christmas. I casted on and really got going on it and realized I made a mistake a row or two back. I ripped it out and now can't seem to get the yarn over to look right. We'll see if I can fix it or if it'll have to be frogged way back.
5. Teddy bear- I started a teddy bear just for the fun of it. I just need to do the arms and finish seaming and then stuffing. It shouldn't take me but a couple of hours to finish this off. It's just sitting there though!
6. Sock with jitterbug sock yarn. I love this yarn. My mom got it for me for christmas. I started a pattern, but it down for a bit and then tried to pick it up and couldn't figure out where I was. I'll probably frog the whole thing and try out a new pattern. I've found some really great ones lately. Maybe the rainy day socks. We'll see

Ok I am pretty sure that's all my unfinished projects. I plan to finish the combo corset-t in the next week or so, provided I figure out all the crochet part and find some nice buttons. After that I need to work on the comfort shawl for my nana. I also bought some Patons "decor" yarn that I want to try to do a palindrome scraf (from silver's website) with. I'm trying to get a project or two done so I can justify starting another one! LOL

I'm heading to San Antonio tomorrow with Lane. My sister's 16th birthday is friday. I'll be bringing projects with me and hopefully I'll get some knit time in! Lane loves it down there and hopefully it'll be warmer down there and he can swim some.

Pay it Forward!!!

Pay It Forward Exchange I'm SO EXCITED to be a involved in the Pay It Forward Exchange! I found out about it from Becka! But I signed up under HollyP for knittinghelp.com

It’s the Pay It Forward Exchange. It’s based of the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. You all know I’m already a PIF type of person. So here’s how it works. I will make and send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I do not know what that gift will be yet, and it won’t be sent this month, probably not next month, but it will be sent (within 6 months) and that’s a promise! What YOU have to do in return, then, is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Ok so now I've signed up and now I need 3 PIF angels! You don't have to be a knitter or a crochetter. Any type of crafter will do! So please leave a comment here with your email address and I'll contact you for further information!

Let the PIF begin!

Secret Them swap gifts!

I received my box of gifts earlier this week. It came all the way from the uk! My swap pal sent me some great yarns, chocolates, sheep keychain, patterns and some neat stuff for my son. How wonderful was that?

I had such a great time with this swap and I received such great stuff. I can't wait for the next one to start!

White Christmas Afghan Square!

I knitted a 12x12 square for Shandeh's white christmas afghan! She is collecting squares (36 to make a blanket) in order to donate to her church to be given out for christmas in her community. I'll be sending it out in the mail tomorrow.

I used some worested weight red heart yarn. I did the divided squares pattern that I did on the oddball blanket #5. It was already engraved on my brain :) I used size 8 needles and CO 48.

Stuff

Ok I went to Canton Texas today to the massive flea market. There was so much STUFF there and so many people. Next time I'd like to go back with just my mom (leave lane at home with his daddy). Then we can browse a bit more I think. I didn't find much in the way of yarn though. Nothing that called out to me. Next time maybe.

I took the oddball blanket #5 and gave it to my mom. I think she'll enjoy knitting on it. She's been knitting wool hats and blankets for charities in afgahnastain (sp). So this will be right up her ally! I'm glad I was able to take part in it and I can't wait to receive oddball blanket #2 and the oddball lapghan #2!

I started the comfort shawl for my nana. I'm doing it in Lion Brand baby soft. It started out a bit rough, mainly b/c the pattern was a bit wordie. But I got if figured out. I am having a small problem with one row of the lace pattern, one open area doesn't match up with the rest of the rows. I'm going to take a crochet hook and see if I can fix it. *crosses her fingers*. If worse comes to worse, I frog 2 rows. We'll see.

My secret swap pal received her stuff last week. It was HollyP in Yorktown Virginia. She seemed to really like the sock yarns and the other goodies. I hope she posts pictures of her finished socks, just so I can see how the yarn knits up :)

I haven't received my box yet. Soon I hope!

So that's it. Still working on my combo corset-t. Put that on hold for a bit while I work on this christmas present. I've got about 14 inches of the 22 1/4 inches. I'm getting there :) Ribbing is not my favorite :)

Completed!!

I've completed my part of the oddball blanket #5. I used a caron yarn. I'm not sure of the actually color b/c my parents get it whole sale and it comes listed as "Mill ends" in 1lb increments. It's beautiful though. It's got burgandy's, greens, blues, oranges and such in it. I think it really compliments the other colors. I did a 5 stitch pattern called "divided blocks". It was easy but I thought it gave a really nice pattern across the blanket.

I really enjoyed working on this blanket and I can't wait to see it progress. I'm sure with all the hands, time, thoughts and prayers that will go into this blanket, it will be blessed when it reaches its forever home!

I'm proud to say I've worked on this blanket with my fellow knitters!

Oddball blanket #5

I received Oddball blanket #5 in the mail on Saturday. We had lane's 3rd birthday party so I didn't get time to really look it over or even to knit on it!

Today Lane was unusually cooperative and so I was able to pick out some yarn and a realtively easy pattern and started working. I've done about an inch so far today and hope to knit a bit more tonight after dinner.

I'm so excited to be able to work on this project! It means a lot to me to be able to give back to someone else. We don't have a lot of money to donate but I do have yarn and time to donate :)

I've also signed up to do oddball blanket #2 (I switched from blanket #4), oddball lapghan #2 and to knit a square to two for Shandeh who will be making white christmas afghan to donate to her church! I'm really enjoying my charity work and plan/hope to do more in the future!

~danielle~

PS I'll post pictures of the blanket #5 before I send it on to the next person!

My combo corsete-T

So this is what I've been working on. It's coming right a long. I don't get a lot of time to knit, but I'm happy with the (slow) progress I'm making :)
~danielle~
Ps I'm about 9 inches so far, of the 22 1/4 inches I need :)

Stuff from my secret pal!

Ok here are all the great things my secret pal sent me! The stitch makers were just beautiful! I didn't have very many so it was really nice to get something pretty to use while I'm knitting! The brownies were really good and even my hubby enjoyed them! I'd definitely buy them again! The knitting book is great and I've already used it a couple times when I've run across a few "problems" in a knitting pattern. I love how it's got ways to lengthen or shorten sleeves if you wanted to make something be more summer/winter. Pretty niffty :) As for the other "pamper me" stuff, I defintiely anjoy it! It's something as a mom I could always use. Thanks so much!

Update!

I've been pretty busy lately! I received my 2nd box from my secret swap pal and it was just wonderful. She made me some beautiful stitch markers, which was really nice as I didn't have many neat ones. She sent me some bath fizzers, which will really be nice to relax in as well as some candles and some no pudge fudge which turned out to be pretty darn good! She also included a knitting answer guide book which will be wonderful when I come up with some of those random questions of mine. I've got some pictures and I'll post them!

I have been knitting on my corsette-t! I started a couple of weeks ago and realize the size was off. I had to go up 3 needle sizes! I felt like that was a lot. It's coming right along and I can't wait to wear it. I'll post some pictures as well.

I've also got my alene camisole that I need to seam together and then pick up stitches to start knitting around the bottom of it. It's in purple and my first "lace" pattern. The corsette is my 2nd. I'm quite proud of my work!

I have yarn I want to dye here soon for my first sweater, which at this rate will be next year before it'll be ready for me to wear :) I also have an afgan kit that I received from knitpicks.com that I would like to knit up. I think it will really give me a chance to try out some different yarns.

I've also decided I want to knit a prayer/comfort shawl for mikie's nana. She's got her plate full these days, more than any grandmother should and I think she'll love it. It may turn out to be a christmas present, but I think she'll love it.

So that's what's going on with me. I still want to find a good tutorial/book to learn magic loop to be able to knit 2 socks at the same time. Lots to do, such a short time!

I'm signed up to participate in the secret theme swap on knittinghelp.com. I'm excited. I hope I get someone I can be totally creative with.... we will see though.

I'll try to get some pictures posted this week. So much going on :)

Summer swapper stuff!

I received my first package from my summer swapper right before I left to go out of town so I haven't had the time to post pictures. I received some really beautiful sock yarn that was hand dyed by my secret pal as well as some hand lotion when my hands get "tired" from knitting :) I love the colors in my sock yarn and can't wait to try it out!
~danielle~

Finally pictures of my finished yarn!

Ok so I've been really busy the last 2/3 weeks. But I have pictures of my yarn to put up! I'm pretty proud of it. I just need some time to work on knitting some socks or knitting anything at this point in time would be great!

More sock yarn pictures!

Ok I have a few more to post before I am able to post the final product. It defintely changed a bit once I microwaved it. Maybe there was a bit too much dye? I think it's pretty cool looking. We'll have to see once it's knitted up!
Tomorrow I should have a finished product to put up! I'm so excited! Now I can think about dying the yarn for my first sweater. I'll be using easter egg dye this time though!
